Meeting Held with Chairmen of the Country’s Crude Oil Refineries

Mr. Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, held a meeting with the chairmen of the country’s crude oil refineries on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, in the presence of Mr. Abdul Rahman Qanit, Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs; Mr. Abdul Mateen Saeed, Deputy Minister for Survey and Geology; Mr. Mahmood Shah Zahid, Technical Deputy Minister and a number of central directorates. The meeting focused on the operational status of refineries, the crude oil refining process, and the establishment and development of standard refineries.
At the outset, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum expressed his satisfaction with the holding of the meeting and stated that oil and gas are among the important sectors of the country’s economy. He noted that as crude oil extraction increases, the need for standard and well-equipped refineries also grows. He emphasized that, in order to make effective use of the country’s petroleum resources and ensure the supply of quality petroleum products, crude oil needs to be refined domestically at well-equipped facilities in accordance with the required standards.
The Minister of Mines and Petroleum also emphasized compliance with technical standards, improvement of the quality of petroleum products, and the adoption of practical measures in this regard.
Subsequently, the Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, while providing the necessary recommendations, emphasized improving the quality of services, enhancing crude oil refining capacity, complying with technical and environmental standards, and ensuring the supply of quality petroleum products following the refining process. He called on the chairmen of the refineries to take the necessary measures to improve their operations and provide better services.
Afterwards, the directors of the crude oil refineries, in turn provided information on the activities, capacities, and operational processes of their respective facilities and shared their views, proposals, and existing challenges regarding refinery operations with the leadership of the Ministry. They also called for greater cooperation and coordination to address the existing challenges and create suitable conditions for improving the operations of the refineries.
At the end, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum, after listening to the proposals and challenges of the chairmen of the refineries, emphasized the need for the necessary cooperation and coordination and assured them that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum would provide the necessary cooperation toward the establishment of standard refineries, enhancing the capacity of existing facilities, improving the quality of petroleum products, and providing better services.
