Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate required to perform the following:

  • Exploration mapping and prospect generation throughout the Basins of Afghanistan, especially Amu Darya, Afghan Tajik and Kushka-Tirpul Basins.
  • Well logs interpretation and correlations using basic logs.
  • Use of advanced log interpretations where available.
  • Work effectively with petrophysical colleagues.
  • Participate in seismic data survey planning, 2D and 3D.
  • Execute seismic data interpretation 2D and 3D incorporating multiple surveys and vintages, onshore, generating attributes as required.
  • Well ties using synthetics and VSP.
  • Interpret seismic, including seismic stratigraphic interpretations for subtle traps.
  • Apply sequence stratigraphic techniques to identify subtle traps. Structural geology skills including fault interpretation and fault seal.
  • Integrate diverse data-types to construct and promote prospects.
  • Assess petroleum risk elements to identify viable prospects.
  • Map making using petroleum industry standard tools.
  • Prospect volume and risk estimates.
  • Preparing and presenting professional-quality presentation materials to technical peers and management.
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to young professionals.
  • To take critical decisions and solve problems.
  • Monitor the daily progress of survey activities.
  • Read and interpret the gravity and chemical surveys.
  • Any other duty assigns by the upper management.

Minimum Requirements:

Hold a bachelor or higher degree in Geology or Geophysics.

Minimum of five years of experience in subsurface exploration and a proven track record in prospect generation and maturation skills.

Experience in applying Clastic and Carbonate Sequence and Seismic Stratigraphy & Regional Geology using seismic and well data to analyze the subsurface at all scales relevant to petroleum systems, from the basin evolution, to the identification of stratigraphic traps and the timing of structural trap development, gross depositional environment reconstruction, reservoir potential, seal characterization and structural geology.

Experience in using applications relating to data interpretation, correlations, mapping and prospect generation e.g., Petrel, Petrosys.

English language fluency with the capability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
