Iranian Investors Express their Interest in Investing in Afghanistan’s Mining Sector
Mr. Abdul Rahman Qanit, Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, met on Saturday, 13 June 2026, with Mr. Alireza Bikdeli, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the heads of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chambers of Commerce, and their accompanying delegation in the conference hall of the Ministry.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran spoke about his plans and programs within the framework of the agreements reached during the previous visit of the leadership of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to Iran. He emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the mining sector.
Welcoming the guests, the Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs said that Afghanistan is a mineral-rich country and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum welcomes all international investors interested in investing in the country’s mining sector. He added that the Ministry will provide the necessary facilities for their activities.
Subsequently, the Chief of Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce in Afghanistan expressed his appreciation to the Ministry’s leadership and stated that, considering the available opportunities, the current situation, and nationwide security in Afghanistan, Iranian companies and investors are interested in investing in the mining and petroleum sectors. He also highlighted the readiness of private companies to cooperate in the areas of training and the transfer of experience of engineers in mineral exploration and extraction.
At the end, the Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs assured the participants of the Ministry’s full cooperation within the framework of the Mining Law and the applicable procedures.
