Uzbek Company Interested in Investing in Afghanistan's Gold and Copper Mines
Mr. Abdul Rahman Qanit, Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, met on Monday, June 15, 2026, with the Chief of the Uzbek companies Ceramic Tua Hua LLC and Bekobod FRP Pipe Products, along with their accompanying delegation, in his office.
Welcoming the Uzbek delegation, Mr. Qanit presented information about Afghanistan’s mineral resources and the procedures for concluding mining contracts. He stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has achieved significant progress in various sectors, including the nationwide security, strengthening of national sovereignty, and expansion of friendly relations with countries around the world, particularly neighboring countries. He added that our policy is focused on reconstruction, development, and economic growth, noting that Afghanistan is a mineral-rich. Therefore, the Ministry welcomes both national and international investors in the mining sector and is committed to provide the necessary facilities to attract investment.
The investors expressed their appreciation for the available opportunities and shared their views about the current situation of Afghanistan. They also shared detailed information about the activities of their companies and expressed their interest in investing in Afghanistan’s mining sector, particularly in gold and copper mines.
At the end, the Deputy Minister for Policy and Programs emphasized the Ministry's full support and cooperation with investors. He stated that, in order to ensure a comprehensive understanding of contract procedures, mining operations and processing, the technical teams of both sides will hold joint meetings. He further assured the delegation that the Ministry will continue to provide the necessary cooperation to facilitate and promote investment in the country’s mining sector.
