Oil Extraction Begins in Zamrad Sai Area of Amu Darya Basin
Oil extraction has commenced from five wells in the Zamrad Sai area, part of the Amu Darya oil basin.
On this occasion, a ceremony was held with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Abdul Ghani Biradar Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Mr. Hedayatullah Badri Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mr. Ataullah Omari along with local elders and representatives of the media.
During the event, Mr. Ahmad Jan, Advisor to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, welcomed the guests and provided information about the oil basin. He said that after three years of survey, research, and drilling operations, it has become possible to initiate pilot extraction from five out of twelve wells in the Zamrad Sai area, with a daily production of approximately 500 tons of oil.
He further added that all aspects of the project are being carried out by Afghan engineers. Over the past six months alone, 400 kilometers of new surveys have been conducted in the Zamrad Sai area, resulting in the discovery of new oil and gas indications.
Moreover, he noted that an Afghan company is prepared to invest approximately 60$ million in the Tirpul area of the Herat oil basin.
He emphasized that comprehensive plans are underway for the proper management, effective utilization, and development of the country’s natural resources, all of which will be systematically implemented by Afghan specialists.
